Preventative dental work can include the following procedures. Contact us today with any questions you have.
Cleaning and Polishing
Regular checkups and cleanings are essential to help you preserve your healthy smile. There really is no replacement for preventing dental disease and decay!
In-office fluoride treatments
Studies now show a 30% reduction in cavities among patients who regularly receive in-office fluoride treatments. Fluoride can greatly benefit ALL people, not just kids! Fluoride works by inhibiting bad bacteria growth in our mouths and strengthens the teeth, making them more resistant to decay and infection.
Sealants
The likelihood of developing decay begins early in life, so sealants are used to seal the deep grooves in teeth to help prevent decay. Adults can benefit from sealants as well.
Toothbrush bristles cannot reach all the way into the depressions and grooves to extract food and plaque. Sealants protect these vulnerable areas by “sealing out” plaque and food.
During your regular dental visits, Dr. Laudie and his staff will check the condition of the sealants and reapply them when necessary.
Digital X-rays and intra-oral camera
Digital x-rays are the latest in dental radiography. Dr. Laudie only uses digital x-rays – which reduce x-ray exposure and improve the detection of dental caries and infection. Additionally, intra-oral cameras are used during your dental appointments to help you see your teeth and any areas of concern.
Gum disease therapy
Gum disease is a chronic condition associated with infection in the gums and permanent bone loss around the teeth. Just like high blood pressure or diabetes, patients with gum disease may not know they have it until it’s too late. Signs of gums disease are bleeding of the gums, bad breath, gum recession and mobile or loose teeth. If you suspect you have gum disease then see Dr. Laudie immediately. The sooner treatment is initiated the less permanent damage to the supporting bone around your teeth.
