2018 – Roatan Honduras Outreach Trip

Dr. Laudie had the opportunity to travel to Roatan, Honduras where he participated in a week long free dental clinic to improve the oral health of the islanders. The dental clinic was a huge success, with nearly a hundred volunteers and several hundred patients treated. Dr Laudie also helped organize service projects for the youth clinic support. They visited local schools to distribute dental hygiene kits and teach basic oral hygiene, distributed donated shoes through the Tom’s One For One program, and painted the home of a family in a nearby village. Dr. Laudie was accompanied by his wife, Tara, children Kaitlynn & Jonathan. What a blessing it is to serve!

2013 – Kansas Mission of Mercy

Additionally Dr. Laudie participates in the yearly Kansas Mission of Mercy event – a 3-day dental services event providing free dental care in Kansas to those in need. This is a huge event that includes as many as 1100 volunteers and 150 dentists. “You are a bright spot in the world right now…You are a blessing to people” said Park City Mayor Emil Bergquist as he welcomed the volunteers to Wichita in 2013. Dr. Laudie loves these events because it’s a way to serve others – which enriches life and brings joy.

2012 and 2013 – Teddy Bear Clinic

At the annual Teddy Bear Clinic in Emporia, KS, children have the opportunity to experience first-hand what might happen if they visited their dentist or doctor. Children are encouraged to bring their favorite stuffed animal and take them from booth to booth to have their animal weighed, receive stitches, get shots and even have an oral examination by Dr. Laudie. Dr. Laudie helps sponsor this free event put on by Newman’s hospital, so that children can bring their Teddy Bears to his booth and watch as they receive an oral examination. Many children, after watching their stuffed animal have a dental exam, decide to jump into the exam chair themselves for a fun exam. Every child that visits the booth receives a free hygiene kit. Children become familiar with the dental office and learn that, instead of being a scary place, it is a comforting place where they can come for needed care.

Dr. Laudie’s dental office has helped sponsor the “OK Kids” Event in Coffey County, KS in 2012 and 2013. This event provides adult supervised activities for kids that allow them to learn new skills. Activities include canoeing, fishing, paintball, climbing, archer, animal rides, hay rides, fire fighting etc. These activities demonstrate safety and help encourage a healthy lifestyle. The next time you’re at the OK Kids event, look for Dr. Laudie and his staff – chances are you’ll find him near the water.

2012 – Roatan Honduras Outreach Trip

Dr. Laudie returned to Honduras in 2012 with his wife, several other family members, and dentists from the Kansas City area to Roatan Honduras to run a free dental clinic for a week. 560 patients were able to receive dental treatment. On the last day, they assisted an orphanage to travel to the dental clinic and bring 50 children. Working on those orphans was one of the highlights of the trip. Dr. Laudie was so touched by the children from the orphanage that he and his wife agreed to support one of the children in the orphanage.

2008 – Pimienta Honduras Outreach Trip

In 2008 Dr. Laudie spent 2 weeks in Pimienta, Honduras doing dentistry on some of the most impoverished citizens of Honduras. Many of the children had never seen or been to a dentist before. They lacked the most basic items needed for good oral care. Dr. Laudie worked tirelessly with others to eliminate dental pain, to restore infected teeth and to educate on how to maintain good oral health. Dr. Laudie’s ability to speak fluent Spanish allowed him to communicate clearly to those wonderful people.
